Chattanooga Fire Department announces first Safe Haven Baby Box surrender

Chattanooga, TN – The Chattanooga Fire Department reported the first successful surrender of an infant at the Safe Haven Baby Box located at Fire Station 6 on Bonny Oaks Drive.
The baby, surrendered on Tuesday night (March 18, 2025), is alive and healthy.
In accordance with the mother’s wishes, no further details will be disclosed, and no additional statements will be made by the Chattanooga Fire Department or Safe Haven Baby Box.
The Safe Haven Baby Box at the Chattanooga Fire Station became operational in November 2024, providing a safe, anonymous option for mothers to surrender their infants.
