Chattanooga, TN – According to the state officials, Governor Lee also highlighted that GIVE is his first legislative priority, reflecting his dedication to investing in the state’s future workforce.
To date, he has invested $50 million into the program to support rural workforce development through technical education.
The initial two rounds of GIVE funding in 2019 and 2021 benefited an estimated 15,500 students, providing them with valuable skills and opportunities to thrive in their communities.
The third round of GIVE grants is set to fund projects that will enhance vocational training and create stronger ties between educational institutions and local businesses. By focusing on regional partnerships, the program aims to address specific workforce needs, ensuring that education aligns with the demands of local industries.
Officials from Tennessee Colleges of Applied Technology, community colleges, and participating industries expressed optimism about the impact of the new grants.
They anticipate that the additional funding will not only support current students but also attract new learners seeking career-focused education.
