60-year-old man dead after being struck while crossing Highway 58 in storm, CPD investigating
Chattanooga, TN – A 60-year-old man was fatally struck by a vehicle while crossing Highway 58 early Saturday morning, according to the Chattanooga Police Department.
Officers responded to the scene at approximately 12:15 a.m. after receiving a report of a pedestrian being hit in the 4700 block of the highway. Upon arrival, they found the man deceased at the scene.
The department’s Traffic Unit launched an investigation, with preliminary findings indicating that a Chevrolet Malibu was traveling north in the left lane when it struck the pedestrian.
Authorities noted that the man was wearing dark clothing and attempting to cross the highway in severe weather conditions, which included heavy rain and storms.
Police emphasized that the details of the incident remain under investigation and could be subject to change.
