Chattanooga firefighters secure major 32-37% pay increases for city employees
Chattanooga, TN – The Chattanooga Fire Department and the Chattanooga Fire Fighters Association, Local 820, were recognized for securing significant pay increases for firefighters in the city.
The International Association of Fire Fighters announced that Local 820 members won across-the-board raises of 32 to 37 percent.
Local 820 President Jack Thompson emphasized the importance of fair pay in recruiting and retaining qualified firefighters.
“Public safety is non-negotiable, and fair pay is the only way to recruit and retain the qualified firefighters our city needs,” Thompson said.
“With this raise, Chattanooga took a smart, balanced step forward that protects the public, supports city employees, and invests in the future of our communities.”
