Chattanooga, TN – The Tennessee Bureau of Workers’ Compensation will hold two free in-person training sessions in September to help employers better understand workers’ compensation requirements, employee benefits and employer rights during the claims process.

The sessions are designed for human resources professionals, safety officers, business owners and supervisors who handle workplace injuries and workers’ compensation matters.

The first training session will be held Sept. 17 in Chattanooga from 1 to 4 p.m. Eastern Time at the Southern Champion Tray Centre South Manufacturing Plant at 2601 Riverport Road.

The Chattanooga session is being held in partnership with Southern Champion Tray and will focus on helping regional employers improve injury reporting, claims management and compliance.

A second session will take place Sept. 24 in Jackson from 1 to 4 p.m. Central Time at the Lowell Thomas State Office Building.

The Jackson training is intended to support companies in the area that want to increase their participation in workers’ compensation education, including employers in Lexington, Henderson, Jackson, Bolivar and Brownsville. Companies such as Volvo Penta and Nidec Motor Corporation are among the employers in the region the event is intended to serve.

Both sessions will be led by staff from the Tennessee Bureau of Workers’ Compensation and will provide interactive instruction on several aspects of the workers’ compensation system.

Topics will include employer rights during the claims process, how to properly report workplace injuries and how employers can present approved physician panels to injured employees.

Participants will also receive guidance on navigating the Court of Workers’ Compensation Claims and avoiding penalties that can result from failing to meet workers’ compensation requirements.

The training is intended to give employers a clearer understanding of their responsibilities when an employee is injured on the job while also explaining the rights available to employers during the claims process.

The Bureau will also explain how it fits into Tennessee’s overall workers’ compensation system and answer questions about benefits available to injured employees.

The sessions come as employers continue to manage workplace safety, injury reporting and workers’ compensation obligations. Understanding the process can help businesses respond more effectively when workplace injuries occur and ensure required steps are followed.

For businesses, proper injury reporting and claims management can be particularly important because mistakes or delays can lead to compliance issues and potential penalties.

The Bureau’s training also gives employers an opportunity to ask questions directly to state officials and receive guidance about navigating the workers’ compensation system.
