Chattanooga, TN – Drone footage released by the Chattanooga Fire Department offered a clear view of a complex mutual aid rescue on Signal Mountain on Sunday, Dec. 14, 2025.
The footage (VIDEO), captured by Chattanooga Fire’s Special Operations Division, showed the extent of the operation after a vehicle crashed and came to rest several hundred feet down the side of the mountain.
A woman was injured and trapped inside the car following the accident.
Firefighters carefully made their way down the steep terrain to reach the vehicle. Crews worked to remove the woman from the car, stabilize her injuries, and place her into a rescue basket.
Using a complex rope system, firefighters then hauled her back up the bluff.
The department said the rescue required patience and precision from everyone involved. Once the woman was safely brought back up the mountain, she was able to receive medical care.
In a message shared with the footage, the Chattanooga Fire Department expressed hope that the woman is recovering well after what it described as a frightening ordeal.
