Chattanooga Police Department investigated shooting on Arlington Avenue with arrest in related case
Chattanooga, TN – The Chattanooga Police Department responded to a shooting on March 23, 2026, in the 1100 block of Arlington Avenue, where a 17-year-old male was injured.
Officers were dispatched at approximately 10:27 p.m. and located the victim with a non-fatal gunshot wound. The victim was transported by Hamilton County EMS to a local hospital for treatment.
Investigators with CPD’s Homicide and Crime Scene units responded to process the scene. Preliminary findings indicate the victim was walking with two other individuals when a vehicle approached from behind and shots were fired, striking the victim.
Roughly one hour after the incident, officers located a suspected vehicle and initiated a brief pursuit. The vehicle was later found abandoned. While searching the area, officers located a 16-year-old male attempting to evade police nearby, along with a firearm in close proximity.
Following an interview, the 16-year-old was charged with Felony Evading and Felony Theft of Property. Authorities noted that, at this time, no charges have been filed in connection with the shooting itself.
