Fire destroyed one home under construction and caused extensive damage to another newly-built house next door
Chattanooga, TN – Per reports, the Chattanooga Fire Department’s Red Shift companies responded to a significant fire in the 1800 block of Oakvale Drive.
Hamilton County 911 received numerous calls reporting visible smoke and flames from a residence under construction.
Upon arrival, firefighters discovered one home fully engulfed in flames, which had spread to a neighboring house that was currently for sale.
Fire crews immediately went into defensive attack mode to protect additional nearby structures. Tennessee American Water boosted pressure to aid in firefighting operations, and within 20 minutes, the fire was under control.
During the overhaul process, firefighters targeted and extinguished remaining hot spots. Thankfully, there were no reported injuries. The fire’s cause remains under investigation.
The incident resulted in the total loss of the house under construction, significant damage to the neighboring house for sale, and heat-related exposure damage to six other structures, including melted siding.
The Chattanooga Fire Department commended the quick response from citizens who called 911, enabling a swift firefighting effort. Mutual aid partners provided coverage at fire halls during the incident.
Units on the scene included Engine 8, Squad 7, Ladder 7, Engine 21, Ladder 13, Squad 13, Squad 19, Ladder 19, Engine 6, Engine 5, Engine 15, Battalion 2, Battalion 3, and CFD Investigations.
