Bridge replacement on SR-1 over Obed River underway, detours in place
Chattanooga, TN – According to the state officials, construction activities for the replacement of the bridge on SR-1 over the Obed River are currently ongoing, necessitating a complete closure of the road at the bridge site until project completion.
Motorists are advised to plan alternate routes as SR-1 (US-70) will remain inaccessible at the bridge location. A clearly marked detour utilizing Northside Drive (SR-462) has been established to facilitate traffic diversion around the closure.
In addition to the bridge closure, the left turn from Sparta Drive onto Miller Avenue (SR-392) has also been closed for the duration of the construction project.
Drivers are urged to adhere to posted detour signs and be mindful of these closures and restrictions. The Tennessee Department of Transportation reminds everyone to exercise caution while navigating through the area affected by these road modifications.
