CDF crews responded on Riverfront Parkway after a forklift flipped over, causing the battery to catch fire and leak acid
Chattanooga, TN – According to the statement, the Chattanooga Fire Department responded to Siskin Steel and Supply Company at 1901 Riverfront Parkway at 11:12 PM on July 22, 2024, after a forklift flipped over, causing the battery to catch fire and leak acid.
Firefighters used soda ash to neutralize the acid and contain the spill, which amounted to approximately 40 gallons.
CFD’s Special Division and multiple Green Shift companies were on the scene. Workers were evacuated, and there were no injuries reported.
Several Green Shift crews were already engaged in another call late Monday night at the Development Resource Center at 1250 Market Street, where they extinguished a fire in the walls.
The center was closed to employees and the public on Tuesday, July 23, 2024.
