CFD crews respond swiftly to Intermont Road house fire, contain blaze with no injuries reported
Chattanooga, TN – Chattanooga Fire Department’s Green Shift companies responded promptly to a residential fire in the Lupton City area. At 5:16 AM on June 25, 2025, crews were dispatched to the 800 block of Intermont Road in Hixson following reports from the resident of smoke and flames on his back porch.
The homeowner, who safely evacuated the property along with his dog before firefighters arrived, alerted 911 to the fire. Due to the close proximity of Station 16—just a mile away—Engine 16’s crew was first on scene and confirmed a working fire in the residential structure.
Firefighters observed heavy black smoke coming from the eaves and flames at the back of the home, which is situated on a hill and set back from the road. The terrain and distance from the roadway made access challenging, prompting crews to call for extended attack lines to reach the fire effectively.
Once the lines were in place, firefighters aggressively attacked the flames. After knocking down the fire, an interior search ensured no one else was inside the residence. Overhaul operations confirmed the fire was fully extinguished. No injuries were reported.
Multiple units, including Engine 16, Squad 19, Ladder 19, Engine 12, Engine 10, Battalion 1, Battalion 3, and CFD Investigations, responded to the incident. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
