Chattanooga, TN – The Chattanooga Fire Department marked one year since the passing of Captain George Turley, who died on December 14, 2024, following a medical emergency during a workout at Station 16. Despite efforts by his crew, paramedics, and doctors, he could not be revived.

Captain Turley was known for his dedication, often working out in the station gym between responding to calls. His sudden death had a profound impact on the department and the community.

Over the past year, fellow firefighters have leaned on each other for support while keeping his family—including Mrs. Turley and their two sons—in their thoughts and prayers.

His name has been added to both the Tennessee Fallen Firefighter Memorial in Bell Buckle and the national IAFF Fallen Fire Fighter Memorial in Colorado Springs.

The department said it continues to honor his memory and service, remembering the dedication and commitment he brought to every shift.
