Chattanooga, TN – Chattanooga firefighters swiftly contained a residential fire Tuesday morning, preventing it from spreading to neighboring homes. At 9:26 a.m. on January 7, 2025, Red Shift crews responded to a home in the 2700 block of Stone Trace Drive off Tyner Road after neighbors called 911, reporting smoke and explosions from the garage.

Ladder 7 was first on the scene and discovered smoke emanating from the garage, where paint cans impinged by fire had caused several explosions. Firefighters from Ladder 7 and Squad 7 launched an aggressive interior offensive attack, quickly knocking down the flames within minutes. Their rapid efforts protected adjoining residences and limited the fire’s damage.

During the response, firefighters safely rescued two cats and a dog from the structure. One resident was evaluated by EMS for singed hair but did not require hospital transport.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. Ladder 7, Squad 7, Engine 8, Squad 13, Ladder 13, Battalion 2, and CFD Investigations were all involved in the operation.
