Chattanooga officers assist in challenging recovery effort along downtown riverfront
Chattanooga, TN – Chattanooga Police Officers Boggess and Casavant responded to an unusual call this week after a phone fell into a narrow crevice near the riverfront, ultimately landing in an area that connected directly to the Tennessee River.
Recognizing the limited access and environmental challenges — including heat, concrete, and proximity to the water — the officers requested assistance.
The Downtown Chattanooga Alliance responded with tools and on-site support.
After assessing the situation, Officer Boggess entered the river to retrieve the phone. The recovery was successful, and no injuries were reported.
The Chattanooga Police Department acknowledged the officers’ efforts in a statement, highlighting their problem-solving and teamwork under atypical circumstances.
