Chattanooga, TN – The Chattanooga Police Department announced a major crime prevention milestone this week: the Baker 3 Zone has gone one full year without a homicide. The achievement was highlighted during a press conference held at the Avondale Community Center.

Chief John Chambers addressed attendees at the event, emphasizing that reducing violence in the city requires broad community involvement.

He expressed appreciation for the collaboration between CPD, the Mayor’s Office, local organizations like the 423 Chain Breakers, and other partners.

“This milestone is the result of a shared effort,” Chambers said, acknowledging the role that community engagement and partnership have played in improving public safety in the zone.

Baker 3 is one of CPD’s designated patrol zones. It has previously faced challenges with violent crime, making the zero-homicide year a significant marker of progress.

The CPD credited this success to ongoing cooperation with city leaders and community-based groups focused on violence prevention and neighborhood outreach.

The department described the effort as a model for future public safety strategies in Chattanooga, noting that the progress seen in Baker 3 reflects what can be achieved through coordinated and sustained action.
