Chattanooga Police Department explorers learn about k9 units during hands-on experience
Chattanooga, TN – Chattanooga Police Department Explorers have had a fantastic opportunity to meet and learn from the department’s K9 unit. During a recent event, the Explorers were introduced to Master Police Officer Timmons and his partner, K9 Burt.
The session was both informative and interactive, with the young participants having the chance to ask insightful questions and witness K9 Burt in action, showcasing the important role K9s play in law enforcement.
The CPD Explorer program, which is free of charge, is designed for young people aged 13-21 who have an interest in law enforcement or are simply looking for fun and adventure.
This program, an official initiative of the Chattanooga Police Department and created by the Boy Scouts of America, offers participants an in-depth look into various career opportunities within law enforcement. Many of the program’s alumni have gone on to secure positions in local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies across the country.
The program combines both classroom and field training, providing Explorers with hands-on experience in police duties, self-defense, and investigations.
In addition to weekly training sessions, participants also have the chance to take part in ride-alongs with officers and compete in annual Explorer competitions. The CPD Explorer program serves as a great pathway for young individuals to explore law enforcement careers and gain valuable experience in the field.
