Chattanooga, TN – The Chattanooga Police Department recently welcomed students from the Chattanooga Girls Leadership Academy for an educational visit to the department’s Special Operations Bureau. The event provided students with a rare, up-close look at the advanced tools and specialized units that support public safety in the city.

During the visit, students explored a variety of high-tech equipment, including the department’s Leica LiDAR scanner, which is used to create detailed 3D scans of crime and crash scenes. The Traffic Unit showcased their motorcycles, offering insight into the work officers do to ensure road safety throughout Chattanooga.

Students also had the chance to step inside the Special Operations mobile command center and learn about its role in coordinating responses to large-scale incidents. Members of the SWAT team and drone operators were also present to demonstrate their equipment and answer questions about their day-to-day responsibilities.

The visit served not only as a hands-on educational experience but also as a valuable opportunity for students to engage with law enforcement professionals and learn about potential future careers in public service. The department emphasized the importance of connecting with youth and encouraging leadership and civic involvement.

Chattanooga Police officials thanked the students and staff of the Chattanooga Girls Leadership Academy for their visit and expressed hope that the event helped inspire the next generation of leaders in the community.
