Chattanooga, TN – The Chattanooga Police Department, in partnership with the Scenic Chattanooga Optimist Club, has named Investigator Chris Blackburn as the 2024 Respect for Law Officer of the Year, recognizing his outstanding service and impact on public safety.
Investigator Blackburn was honored for his pivotal role during a period of heightened gang-related violence in 2024. His investigative efforts, particularly his persistence in pursuing leads, resulted in multiple high-impact arrests and the execution of search warrants that significantly disrupted gang operations across the city.
According to the department, Blackburn demonstrated exceptional skill in leveraging ballistic intelligence and digital evidence, building strong cases that not only led to arrests but also helped prevent retaliatory violence. His work has contributed to a measurable reduction in non-fatal shootings and gang-related homicides in Chattanooga.
