Chattanooga, TN – Chattanooga firefighters quickly brought a garage fire under control Saturday evening at a home in the 6400 block of Rosemary Drive, limiting damage and preventing injuries.

According to the Chattanooga Fire Department, crews responded around 6 p.m. on January 10 after a residential structure fire was reported. Engine 6 arrived first and observed heavy smoke coming from the garage. Firefighters immediately deployed an attack line as additional units arrived to support operations.

Ladder crews positioned aerial and ground ladders while Squad 7 established a water supply and forced entry into the garage.

Firefighters were able to access the fire and apply water directly to the source, quickly knocking down the flames.

Additional crews entered through the rear of the structure to assist.

Prior to the fire department’s arrival, one adult and two children safely exited the home without injuries.

Firefighters conducted primary and secondary searches of the residence to confirm no one remained inside.

The fire was contained to the garage area, and officials said damage to the rest of the home was minimal. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Hamilton County EMS, the Chattanooga Police Department, EPB, and the Red Cross assisted at the scene. An off-duty Chattanooga police officer who lives nearby reported the fire after noticing smoke.
