Governor Lee announced new commissioner for the Department of General Services
Chattanooga, TN – Tennessee Governor Bill Lee has announced the appointment of Matt Van Epps as the new commissioner for the Tennessee Department of General Services, effective October 1.
Van Epps will take over from Christi Branscom, who is stepping down on September 30 after nearly six years of service to the state.
Christi Branscom joined the Lee administration in January 2019 and has been instrumental in enhancing the efficiency of DGS services. Under her leadership, DGS and its divisions—including Administration, VAM, Document Solutions, CPO, and STREAM—received industry-leading awards.
Branscom also managed the state’s most significant capital budget to date, focusing on deferred maintenance of facilities and optimizing the state’s real estate portfolio.
Matt Van Epps, who is set to succeed Branscom, currently works as a consultant and serves on the Tennessee Higher Education Commission.
He previously held the role of senior vice president of operations at Main Street Health, a start-up dedicated to advancing value-based rural healthcare across the country.
