House fire on Northrop Street Thursday afternoon sent one person to the hospital with burns
Chattanooga, TN – According to the officials, Chattanooga Fire Department’s Green Shift companies were dispatched to a residence in the 3500 block of Northrop Street, close to Fire Station 16, enabling a rapid response by Engine 16 and other units.
Heavy smoke was seen coming from the back of the structure. Firefighters quickly attacked the flames, preventing extensive damage to the rest of the house, although the back porch sustained damage.
Crews then checked for fire extension and targeted hot spots to ensure the fire was fully extinguished.
One resident was transported to the hospital with burns on her hands and feet.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. The American Red Cross will be assisting the residents affected by the fire.
Responding units included Engine 16, Engine 12, Ladder 19, Squad 19, Engine 11, Battalion 2, Battalion 3, and CFD Investigations.
