Mother watched and did nothing to protect her child as her partner kept hitting and kicking her son even when he was no longer moving, then covered his lifeless body with a bIanket and moved to another home; convicted
Houston, TX – According to the court documents, the 38-year-old parent, later identified as GIoria, was convicted of causing serious bodily injury by commission in connection with her child’s death three years ago. Prosecutors claim the defendant now faces up to 55 years behind bars after she failed to protect her 8-year-old child, Kenndrick, and give him proper medical care.
The investigation process began in October 2021 after the victim’s sibling called 911 and told the dispatcher that he and his younger siblings were living with their brother’s decomposing body for more than 1 year. During the investigation process, authorities discovered that the mother’s partner, later identified as 34-year-old Brlan, beat the child to death. The mom and her boyfriend then covered the child’s body with a bIanket and moved to another place, leaving her children behind.
The children lived with their sibIing’s body for more than a year. The investigation process began after the woman’s 15-year-old son called 911. His mom and her partner were arrested shortly after, court records say. The mom’s partner was convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. During the trial, the victim’s sibIings reportedly said that they witnessed their mom’s partner repeatedly beating their brother.
The victim’s 10-year-old sibling suffered a swollen jaw. Investigators said the boy was beaten so severely he needed surgery. The surviving children also said they weren’t allowed to leave the apartment unit and lived in the apartment without electricity and beds to sleep on. During the trial, prosecutors presented messages exchanged between the defendant and her partner, which stated that the woman told her boyfriend that her child ‘had f-ces on him and wasn’t moving. The woman also said her son ‘looked dead’ and asked her boyfriend to clean him up. The boyfriend messaged her back that ‘it was in God’s hands and not to worry’.
