New interim administrator appointed to lead Chattanooga’s Department of Community Development
Chattanooga, TN – Mayor Tim Kelly has named Cedric Henson as the interim administrator of the Department of Community Development, following the departure of Carol Hunter, who will take on a new role within the Department of Public Works (DPW).
Henson, who currently serves as deputy administrator for DPW, has been with the city for two years. Mayor Kelly expressed confidence in Henson’s ability to provide steady leadership during the transition.
“Community development plays a vital role in the day-to-day life of many Chattanoogans,” Kelly said. “With Cedric’s interim appointment, I know he will provide a continuity of leadership for the department, including transitioning our community centers to neighborhood resource hubs for engagement, learning and support.”
Henson expressed gratitude for the opportunity and a commitment to advancing the city’s One Chattanooga plan. “I look forward to collaborating with the staff and continuing to ensure we have great customer service,” he said.
The appointment reflects the city’s focus on strengthening community engagement and support through innovative use of its resources.
