Chattanooga, TN – Chattanooga firefighters from the department’s Swiftwater Rescue Team rescued six people from a van late Tuesday night at Davidson Road and Gunbarrel Road, where rising water from an overflowing creek nearly swept the vehicle away.
No injuries were reported, but firefighters spent hours afterward checking submerged vehicles to ensure no one was trapped.
The incident was part of a large coordinated response involving city, county, and state agencies as flash flooding created hazardous conditions across Chattanooga.
Officials urged residents not to drive or walk through flooded areas, warning that such actions put both the public and emergency responders at risk.
