Tennessee – The Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security had a successful 2024, achieving significant milestones in public safety. Over 150 new State Troopers were hired and trained, contributing to road safety and reducing fatal crashes.

The department also played a vital role in Hurricane Helene disaster response, removed illegal firearms, and made numerous drug-related arrests.

The Office of Homeland Security strengthened school safety initiatives by training 63 special agents and providing $5.7 million in grants for security infrastructure. Additionally, the department issued millions of REAL IDs, enhanced driver services, and expanded online services to improve customer experience.

The Tennessee Advanced Communications Network supported emergency communication efforts during crises, while the Tennessee Highway Safety Office awarded grants and increased seat belt usage.

These efforts reflect the department’s commitment to safety, security, and community well-being in Tennessee.
