Chattanooga, TN – According to the state officials, on this day, all state residents and visitors of any age can fish for free without a license in Tennessee’s public waters.

Additionally, youth ages 15 and under can fish for free for the entire week, starting on Free Fishing Day and continuing through Friday, June 14.

Since 1991, the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) has hosted this annual free fishing event to introduce children and families to fishing and outdoor recreation.

To enhance the experience, TWRA stocks thousands of pounds of fish across the state, ensuring high-quality and exciting fishing opportunities for participants.

Fishing is a fantastic family activity that also promotes awareness of the natural environment.

TWRA, along with various communities and partner organizations, has organized special fishing events throughout the state.

Special thanks go to Academy Sports + Outdoors for their continued statewide sponsorship of Bobby Wilson Free Fishing Day. For a complete list of locations and event details, visit the TWRA events page here.
