Traffic disruptions expected on I-40 in Putnam County due to rolling roadblocks on April 13
Tennessee – Drivers traveling along I-40 in Putnam County should be prepared for traffic disruptions on Sunday, April 13, 2025, as utility contract crews conduct rolling roadblocks in both directions.
The roadblocks, which will take place from 6:00 AM to 8:00 AM local time, will cover the stretch of I-40 between mile markers 273 and 286.
Motorists are advised to exercise caution when traveling through the area, as delays are expected due to the roadblocks. The work is weather-dependent, and any adverse weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances may lead to rescheduling of the event.
Uniformed police officers will be on hand to assist with traffic control and ensure safety during the operations.
In addition, drivers are encouraged to stay informed about traffic conditions by utilizing available motorist information tools. The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) offers real-time updates through the TDOT SmartWay Map, and travelers can call 511 for statewide travel information.
As a reminder, Tennessee’s Move Over Law requires drivers to reduce speed and change lanes when approaching emergency or service vehicles stopped on the side of the road. Violations of this law carry penalties, including up to 30 days in jail and a fine of up to $500.
Motorists are encouraged to plan accordingly and allow extra time for their travel.
