Houston, TX – According to the court documents, the 27-year-old mom, later identified as DanieIIe, was sentenced to four decades behind bars after she pleaded guilty to multiple charges in August, including injury to a child and recklessly causing their death in connection with her baby’s death. Prosecutors claim the woman got lntoxicated while she went to sleep with her baby in the same bed. When the woman woke up, she realized that her baby was dead, but didn’t called the authorities for nearly 10 hours.
The woman was sentenced after she pleaded guilty last month, court records say. During the investigation process, authorities reportedly discovered that the young mom got lntoxicated with iIIegal substance while she was sharing the same bed with her baby. While she was sleeping, the parent reportedly roIIed over onto the 5-month-old baby and sm0thered the infant to death.
When she woke up, the parent realized that her baby was dead, but refused to provide any medical treatment or emergency aid for her baby, while the infant was not responsive. The young mom instead waited for nearly 10 hours before she called the authorities.
The Texas Attorney General released a statement, saying that the parent pleaded guilty to Injury to a Child – Recklessly Causing Death/Serious Bodily Injury and was sentenced to 40 years in the Institutional Division of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. Prosecutors also said that the biological mother of 5-month-old RheyIene became lntoxicated by an iIIegal substance while co-sIeeping with her baby and sm0thered the child to death.
