Boston, MA – A 65-year-old Massachusetts man was taken into custody and later charged with multiple charges, including involuntary mansIaughter, assault and battery after he reportedly killed his longtime friend and housemate, 80-year-old Franc. Authorities in Massachusetts said the defendant grabbed the victim’s back and threw him to the side only for the victim to fell and hit his head on the floor. The defendant was the one who called 911 and told the dispatcher that his friend was bleeding after realizing that the victim couldn’t get off the floor. 

The fatal incident occurred on Wednesday at the home they both shared for decades. During the investigation process, authorities learned that the defendant reportedly attempted to push the much older man away from the ‘food area’ because the victim often coughed and sneezed. The defendant told investigators that he pushed the man because he didn’t want the victim to ‘spoil the food’. After leaving a salt barrier the older man was not to cross, the defendant he left the kitchen and returned later to find the victim washing dishes. When the defendant returned, he realized that the victim was close to the food and he confessed to grabbing the elderly man and throwing him to the side. 

During an interview with investigators, the defendant reportedly said that shortly before the fatal incident, the duo got into an argument because he didn’t want the victim to touch the food he was preparing for the holiday. Moments later, the defendant realized that the victim was doing the dishes, but was too close to the food. The defendant also told investigators that he even drew a physical barrier using salt and pepper, but when the victim crossed the line, he got angry and grabbed the older man by the collar only to push him to the side.

The responding officers found the elderly man lying on the floor. The victim suffered life-threatening injuries from the fall and was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the local hospital. The medical examiner told investigators that the cause of death was blunt force injury to the head. The 65-year-old defendant is being held without bond and his next court appearance is scheduled for December 4, court records say.
