Chattanooga, TN – Department of Safety and Homeland Security Commissioner Jeff Long and Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) Colonel Matt Perry recently welcomed the newest graduating class of Tennessee State Troopers. The Lateral Trooper Cadet Class 1224 successfully completed an 11-week training program.

Commissioner Long emphasized the class’s teamwork and mutual support during the rigorous training, noting that all 13 members started together in September and graduated together. He praised their ability to work together and congratulated them for earning the title of Tennessee State Trooper.

Colonel Perry highlighted that the graduates brought a wealth of experience, insight, and dedication from their previous roles with other law enforcement agencies. This lateral class included 13 troopers with a combined 93 years of experience in law enforcement, demonstrating a high level of preparedness for their new roles within the THP.
