Chattanooga Police Department enhances capabilities with new advanced drones
Chattanooga, TN – The Chattanooga Police Department has expanded its drone fleet with two BRINC Lemur 2 drones, designed and manufactured in the United States. These advanced drones feature state-of-the-art technology aimed at improving public safety and reducing risks for officers during critical operations.
Equipped with 4K cameras and night vision, the drones provide clear visuals even in low-light conditions, aiding in suspect searches and crime scene assessments. Thermal sensors enhance search-and-rescue efforts by detecting heat signatures in hard-to-reach areas.
A key feature of the Lemur 2 is its ability to create real-time floor plans, allowing officers to navigate buildings more safely in high-risk situations. The drones also enable two-way communication with barricaded suspects, assisting in de-escalation efforts without putting officers in harm’s way.
With mesh networking, the drones can connect to one another, extending their operational range in complex environments. Their access capabilities allow them to open most doors and break glass, which can be crucial in hostage rescues or standoff situations. Additionally, they can deliver small payloads as needed.
The department views these drones as an important addition to its technology-driven approach to policing, enhancing tactical operations and improving overall safety for the community.
