Chattanooga, TN – Engine 16 from the Chattanooga Fire Department conducted drafting operations Friday afternoon at a river, preparing for situations where fire hydrants are unavailable.

Drafting allows firefighters to use static water sources, such as lakes or ponds, to supply units with water during emergencies.

Several members of the department’s training staff assisted with the exercise, ensuring that personnel remain proficient in essential skills for responding to fires in areas without hydrant access.
