Chattanooga, TN – The Chattanooga Police Department investigated a fatal single-vehicle crash early Sunday morning on Interstate 24 East.

According to police, officers were dispatched at approximately 3:35 a.m. on Dec. 14, 2025, to the 181 mile marker of Interstate 24 East for a reported crash involving a vehicle fire.

Preliminary information indicated the vehicle left the roadway to the right and struck a guardrail, causing it to rotate. Police said the vehicle was then redirected into a tree before coming to rest against a fence.

The vehicle ignited, and the driver was unable to be removed. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Chattanooga Police Department’s Traffic and DUI Unit responded to conduct the investigation. The Chattanooga Fire Department also responded and extinguished the fire.

The identity of the driver had not been released as of Sunday afternoon. Police said the information is preliminary and subject to change as the investigation continues.
