Chattanooga, TN – According to the officials, a Chattanooga family of four is safe after escaping their burning home in Alton Park late Tuesday night.

At 10:37 PM on January 1, 2025, Chattanooga Fire Department’s Blue Shift companies responded to a residential structure fire in the 5200 block of Usher Drive.

Two adult females and two children had exited the house as flames spread. While they suffered minor smoke inhalation, HCEMS assessed them on the scene, and no hospital transport was required.

Engine 14 arrived to find a working fire with flames visible through the front door and exiting the back. Firefighters made a direct attack, quickly knocking down the flames.

Crews then worked to fully extinguish the fire, which caused significant structural damage.

The American Red Cross is assisting the displaced residents. Units from Engine 14, Squad 1, Engine 1, Ladder 1, Engine 9, Battalion 1, Battalion 2, Battalion 3, EMS, EPB, CPD, CFD Investigations, and CFD Supply responded to the scene.
