Chattanooga, TN – Chattanooga Fire Department personnel joined multiple agencies on Monday for a coordinated training exercise designed to strengthen response efforts in challenging terrain.

The scenario involved a mock woods fire located several hundred feet from the Incline Railway tracks, creating conditions similar to what crews could face during an actual emergency.

Firefighters worked on steep ground to cut fire breaks and establish a water supply extending down to the simulated fire area. With coordinated support from CARTA staff, the mock fire was contained quickly, demonstrating the value of interagency communication and planning.

The exercise included participation from the Chattanooga Fire Department, CARTA and Incline Railway personnel, the Hamilton County Office of Emergency Management, the National Park Service, Tennessee Forestry, Lookout Mountain Police and Fire, HCEMS, TDOT, the CFD Wildland Fire Team, CFD Special Operations and CFD Engine 14.
