Chattanooga, TN – According to the CFD officials, a young family faced an unexpected challenge as standstill traffic on Interstate 24 forced them to pull over while en route to the hospital.

The mother, in labor, was unable to reach the hospital in time. Realizing they needed immediate help, the family called 911.

Chattanooga Fire Department Squad 13 Blue Shift, East Ridge PD, and HCEMS Medic 13 responded swiftly.

Shortly after Squad 13’s arrival around 1:00 AM, the baby was born on the side of I-24 near the Germantown exit.

HCEMS Medic 13 then transported both the mother and newborn to the hospital, with the father following behind.

Thankfully, everyone involved is happy, healthy, and doing well.

The family extends their gratitude to the first responders for their quick and effective assistance. Congratulations to the family on their new arrival!
