Chattanooga Fire Department responds after vehicle crashes into East Chattanooga home
Chattanooga, TN – On Saturday night, January 4, 2025, a home in East Chattanooga sustained significant damage when a vehicle struck the residence. At 6:33 p.m., Chattanooga Fire Department’s Green Shift units were dispatched to the 2600 block of Waterhaven Drive after receiving reports of an explosion.
Responding units from the Chattanooga Police Department, CFD, and Hamilton County EMS found that a car had crashed through the front bedroom of the house and into the garage. The elderly driver of the vehicle was trapped and had to be extricated by firefighters. He was transported to a hospital with unknown injuries.
Inside the home at the time of the crash were a babysitter and three young children, who fortunately were not injured.
A building inspector was called to assess the structural damage. Firefighters worked to stabilize the structure by shoring up one area and securing the house before turning it over to the homeowners.
CFD units involved included Engine 6, Engine 4, Squad 1, Squad 19, Squad 7, Ladder 7, Engine 10, Battalion 2, and Battalion 3.
