Chattanooga fire department responds to brush fire and home fire in busy Sunday
Chattanooga, TN – The Chattanooga Fire Department reported a busy day for Green Shift crews on March 1, 2026, responding to two significant incidents.
At 3:15 PM, firefighters contained a large brush fire behind several residences near 1318 Hixson Pike. Units including Battalion 3, Engine 12, Engine 16, Tanker 16, and Squad 19 prevented the fire from spreading to any structures.
Later, at 8:12 PM, crews responded to a house fire on Abelia Lane off Dayton Boulevard after multiple 911 reports of flames. Engine 22 reported heavy smoke and fire on the front of the home.
All residents had safely evacuated, and the fire was quickly extinguished. The cause is under investigation. Officials noted the fire was a rekindle from a blaze at the same location the night before, resulting in significant damage to the structure.
Additional units responding included Engine 22, Ladder 19, Squad 19, Engine 17, Engine 11, Battalion 1, and Battalion 3.
