Chattanooga, TN – On March 20, 2025, three teens committed an armed robbery at an East Ridge convenience store, but they didn’t get far thanks to a fast-acting Chattanooga Police Department officer and K9 Sully.

At around 8:00 p.m., the suspects robbed the store and fired shots at the store clerk, though fortunately, no one was injured.

The teens then fled in a vehicle, but their attempt to escape was thwarted when a CPD Neighborhood Policing Officer spotted them speeding through a Ridgedale neighborhood.

The driver tried to evade the officer but eventually got stuck at a dead end. All three suspects fled on foot, but the officer quickly apprehended the 18-year-old suspect.

Additional officers arrived and set up a perimeter. The remaining two suspects, aged 13 and 14, were located by K9 Sully, who tracked them down with the help of his handler.

East Ridge Police Department charged all three suspects with attempted murder, aggravated robbery, and other crimes, with additional charges from CPD for evading and reckless endangerment.

K9 Sully’s successful track once again highlighted the invaluable role that canine units play in law enforcement.

The swift coordination between CPD officers and K9 Sully ensured that the suspects were swiftly brought into custody, making the neighborhood safer and preventing further violence.
