Chattanooga, TN – The Chattanooga Police Department’s Crime Scene Unit recently played a key role in educating future forensic professionals during a visit to the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. As part of UTC’s Justice Speaker Series, members of the unit offered students an in-depth look at the day-to-day realities of modern crime scene investigation.

The event was designed to bridge academic learning with real-world experience, giving students the opportunity to engage directly with those working in the field.

Officers highlighted the crucial role of forensic science in criminal investigations and showcased the advanced technology and detailed techniques utilized by CPD investigators.

The presentation included demonstrations of crime scene tools, evidence collection methods, and digital forensics equipment. Students were encouraged to ask questions, and CPD staff welcomed the lively and insightful discussion.

“We are proud to invest in the education of these bright minds,” said a CPD representative. “It’s important for students to see the real-world applications of what they’re studying, and to understand both the challenges and rewards of this career.”

The Chattanooga Police Department expressed enthusiasm about continuing to build relationships with local institutions and hopes to inspire more young people to pursue careers in forensic science and public safety.
