Chattanooga, TN – Over the weekend, officers from the Chattanooga Police Department (CPD) took part in a community effort aimed at promoting public safety and responsible prescription disposal.

The event, organized by the Hamilton County Coalition, was part of the nationwide Drug Take Back Day initiative.

Residents from across Hamilton County came out to safely dispose of their old or unused prescriptions. The event provided an opportunity for the community to prevent unused medications from falling into the wrong hands or contributing to substance abuse.

CPD officers played a crucial role in ensuring the security of the collected prescriptions. Throughout the event, they maintained a secure environment and carefully oversaw the safe transfer of all medications to the Drug Enforcement Agency’s (DEA) official collection vehicle.

Drug Take Back Day is a key part of ongoing efforts to combat prescription drug misuse and protect the environment from improper disposal.

The Chattanooga Police Department’s participation highlights their commitment to community partnerships and public health initiatives that make Hamilton County a safer place.
