Chattanooga, TN – According to the CFD officials, on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, Safe Haven Baby Box officials, members of the Chattanooga Fire Department, local first responders, and city leaders will gather to officially bless the new baby box, marking it as operational and accessible to the public.

The Safe Haven Baby Box, authorized under Tennessee’s Safe Haven Law, allows parents to safely and anonymously surrender their newborn without fear of legal repercussions.

The device aims to prevent unsafe abandonment, ensuring that infants are placed in proper care and that surrendering parents are protected under the law.

With this addition, Chattanooga joins nearly 300 Safe Haven Baby Box locations nationwide and becomes the latest city in Tennessee to adopt the service.

Other Tennessee cities with baby boxes include Jackson, Lawrenceburg, Springfield, Murfreesboro, Tullahoma, Kingston, Oak Ridge, and Knoxville, which hosts two baby box sites, along with Clinton and Erwin.
