Chattanooga, TN – Chattanooga Tree Commission and the City of Chattanooga’s Urban Forestry Program, under the Department of Public Works, are observing Chattanooga’s 36th Arbor Day Celebration on March 1, 2025, at the Washington Hills Community Center, located at 4628 Oakwood Dr. This year also marks the city’s 35th year of Tree City USA status from the Arbor Day Foundation.

The celebration will feature a volunteer tree planting event, organized with help from the City’s Department of Community Development, Department of Parks & Outdoors, and the Washington Hills Neighborhood Association.

Volunteers will plant 36 container-grown trees on the grounds and along Oakwood Dr. Due to the size of the trees, planting work will be limited to volunteers aged 14 and up, but all ages are welcome to attend.

The event will start at 9:00 a.m. and will be followed by an Arbor Day recognition ceremony at 11:30 a.m., where local and state officials will commemorate Chattanooga’s 35th year as a Tree City USA. Snacks and refreshments will be provided, and the event will conclude at 12:00 p.m.

Volunteers are encouraged to sign up in advance on the Chattanooga Parks & Outdoors volunteer page, accessible here.
