Child began having seizures moments before he died after a man, who was taking care of the boy, punlshed him with intense physicaI activities and made him endure lce-baths for nearly 2 hours; charges
Ohio – An Ohio man was arrested and charged with felony chiId endangering after the death of a child, while taking care of the 12-year-old. Authorities in Ohio said the boy, Jadaco, was subjected to severe corporal punishment, including several lce baths and strenuous physical exercises. The incident occurred when the 23-year-old man, Antony, allegedly forced the victim to endure these extreme measures as a form of discipline.
The events unfolded last week, when the defendant reportedly started with a 45-minute lce bath, followed by a series of physical exercises, including push-ups. This cycle of lce baths and physical exertion was repeated, with the child enduring a second 30-minute lce bath. According to the criminal complaint, the defendant believed the harsh regimen would serve as discipline for the young boy.
After the second lce bath, the child began vomiting and exhibited signs of distress, including seizures. Emergency responders arrived at the scene around 2:30 p.m. and quickly transported him to the Children’s Hospital. Unfortunately, the boy was pronounced dead at 3:45 p.m. Medical personnel noted that the victim’s body temperature had dropped to a dangerously low 73 degrees Fahrenheit, indicating hypothermia, which likely played a role in his death.
The investigation into the circumstances of the victim’s death was launched by the authorities. The defendant, who had been responsible for the child’s care, was arrested and charged with felony child endangering. He appeared in court for his arraignment, where his bond was set at $500,000.
The Medical Examiner’s Office conducted an autopsy on the victim. While the final cause of death is still pending, the preliminary investigation suggests that the defendant’ actions directly contributed to the victim’s fatal condition. The 23-year-old man has denied any intent to harm the child, stating that the punishment was meant to discipline the boy.
The local community has expressed shock and outrage over the death of young boy. Local authorities are calling for anyone with information about the incident to come forward. The Police Detective Bureau has asked for tips at 330-375-2490.
