CPD proudly celebrated the graduation of the 2024-1 Police Academy class, marking the beginning of a promising journey in law enforcement for 13 new officers
Chattanooga, TN – According to the police officials, these graduates completed a 22-week intensive training program that included classroom instruction, defensive tactics, interpersonal communication, and in-depth studies of criminal and Constitutional law.
The ceremony highlighted the graduates’ hard work and dedication, with special addresses from Interim Chief Harry Sommers, Retired Executive Chief Glenn Scruggs, and Class President Emily Woodson.
Their words provided inspiration and guidance for the new officers as they prepared to transition into the next phase of their training.
Following graduation, the officers will embark on 16 weeks of hands-on experience, riding alongside seasoned Field Training Officers to further hone their skills and apply what they’ve learned in real-world scenarios.
The Chattanooga Police Department also announced that applications for the March 2025 Police Academy are now open, inviting those interested in a career in law enforcement to apply.
The department looks forward to the contributions these new officers will make to the community, with confidence in their dedication, bravery, and commitment to service.
