CPD sergeant recognized as the only active law enforcement expert on Crime Gun Intelligence by Bureau of Justice Assistance
Chattanooga, TN – Chattanooga Police Department Sergeant Josh May was recognized as the only active law enforcement expert on Crime Gun Intelligence by the Bureau of Justice Assistance.
His expertise has been a valuable resource not only for Chattanooga but also for agencies across the country that seek to strengthen their practices.
In the past two weeks, Sgt. May visited Topeka, Kansas, to provide training and assist with establishing their Crime Gun Intelligence Center, observed Knoxville Police Department’s Crime Gun Intelligence workflow to offer recommendations for improvement, and spoke at the Tennessee Gang Investigators Association about applying ballistic technology in gang investigations.
Since the creation of the Gun Team in 2018, the Chattanooga Police Department has helped more than 50 agencies enhance their programs by sharing strategies and building stronger crime gun intelligence networks.
