Chattanooga, TN – Four Chattanooga Police Department (CPD) traffic investigators received the Commander’s Award for Excellence for their role in assisting East Ridge Police Department (ERPD) with a crash investigation.

Recognizing the complexity of the case, Sergeant Chris Mullinix contacted ERPD to offer assistance from CPD’s Traffic Unit.

Sgt. Mullinix, Sgt. Tommy Seiter, and MPO Adam Cavitt responded to the scene with CPD’s advanced 3D Leica scanner to document the crash, preserve evidence, and determine speed calculations.

Investigator Marvin Perez later arrived to provide interview support, as the suspect spoke English as a second language.

Their collaborative efforts helped ERPD secure charges against the suspected driver. CPD officials highlighted the unit’s dedication to assisting outside agencies as an example of its commitment to selfless service.
