Chattanooga, TN – According to the Chattanooga Police Department, the two-vehicle crash occurred on Wednesday.
It happened near Shallowford Road and Highway 153.
Chattanooga Police Department officers responded to a report of a crash.
The responding officers discovered that an occupant of one of the vehicles was unresponsive.
Police were advised that a vehicle pulled out of the post office parking turning eastbound into the pathway of another vehicle going westbound on Shallowford Road.
The injured occupant of the first vehicle sustained life-threatening injuries as a result of the crash.
The unidentified victim was taken to a local hospital where he later died.
All other occupants of both vehicles were treated at the scene for minor injuries.
It was determined during the investigation that the victim in the crash was a retired Chattanooga Police sergeant.
This incident remains under investigation.
