Driver cited after reaching 70+ mph on Market Street Bridge, Chattanooga Police say
Chattanooga, TN – Chattanooga Police Department issued a warning about speeding and reckless driving after a recent traffic stop in downtown Chattanooga.
According to police, Sgt. Mullinix clocked a driver traveling 56 mph through an intersection before reaching an estimated speed of more than 70 mph on the Market Street Bridge, which is more than double the posted speed limit.
The driver was charged with speeding and reckless driving and was issued a citation in lieu of arrest, meaning he is required to turn himself in at a later time.
Police emphasized that the charges are allegations and that all individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court. Officials also reminded drivers that reckless driving poses serious risks and urged the public to slow down.
