Firefighters contain Lookout Mountain woods fire sparked by downed power line
Chattanooga, TN – Chattanooga firefighters quickly responded to and extinguished a woods fire on Lookout Mountain Friday morning, July 11, after a tree fell onto a power line near the intersection of South Scenic Highway and Linear Lane.
The call came in at 10:42 a.m. Emergency responders from EPB were first on scene to de-energize the affected power line, allowing Chattanooga Fire Department crews to move in and contain the fire.
Firefighters deployed multiple hose lines across steep terrain to stop the spread and worked diligently to eliminate remaining hot spots.
Fortunately, there was no damage to the nearby Incline Railway’s tracks.
Responding units included Engine 14, Brush Truck 14, Engine 3, Tanker 3, Brush Truck 20, and Battalion 1 Red Shift.
